Evil
Some time ago I found an article, the author talked to a psychologist about evil in man.
The genesis of this article was the behavior of Russian soldiers in Ukraine. We know from the available information that the scale of the atrocities committed by Russian soldiers is unimaginable.
The psychologist, when asked why this was happening, explained that it was due to many factors, such as the long-term dehumanization of Ukrainians by the Russian media, hatred, lack of control ...
The main message, however, was that every human being is prone to evil, provided that he is acted upon by certain factors.
History gives us countless examples of cruelty. World War II is perhaps one of the best. The mechanism that operated in Nazi Germany was similar. Dehumanizing Jews. When propaganda stripped them of their humanity, it was easier for an ordinary soldier to explain that he was actually doing nothing wrong. Although there are such disgraceful examples in post-war history.
One of the most memorable movies I have ever seen was "Sometimes in April". The film told the story of the Rwanda genocide in 1994. About a million people were murdered in cold blood within 100 days. It was done with devastating brutality and cruelty.
Another example - the Srebrenica massacre where over 8,000 Bosnian Muslims were killed by Bosnian Serbs.
In everyday life we have hundreds of examples of evil, murders, murders, rapes,
massacres.
In 1971, the American psychologist and researcher Philip Zimbardo conducted the famous experiment at Stanford University. The aim of the experiment was to investigate the impact of anonymity and the possibility of treating others as objects on changing human behavior. Another assumption was to examine the influence of the environment, authority, group solidarity and a specific situation on the actions of individuals. The group of 18 volunteers was divided into 2 groups: prisoners and guards. The experiment was stopped after 6 days because, among other things, deteriorating practices of a group of guards against a group of prisoners were noticed. An analysis of this experiment was later published by Zimbardo in the book "Lucifer Effect".
Just a few days ago, we had an example from the United States, where 19 students and 2 teachers were killed in a primary school in Uvalde. Only because evil has sprouted in a man's head. I often wonder (and I have mentioned several times in my other posts) why we assign ourselves a superior role in the existence of our planet. Man is the only being able to commit bestiality and cruelty.
I remember during the migration crisis, during a speech in front of television cameras, one of the politicians said:" These are issues related to various kinds of dangers in this sphere. After all, there are already symptoms of very dangerous diseases that have not been seen for a long time in Europe: cholera on the Greek islands, dysentery in Vienna, various types of parasites, protozoa, which are not dangerous in the organisms of these people, can be dangerous here. This does not mean discriminating against someone ... But you have to check ".
Dehumanisation...
The question that hangs at the very end of this post is this. What are the circumstances that would lead to evil sprouting within us? It is worth considering this question and defining what would awaken in us what we do not accept at the moment. I am asking because in the stream of media, the swamps that pour out every day, it may happen that we will receive information that is seemingly innocent, which will constitute the genesis of the monster. It is worth being aware and not watering the seed that sits in all of us.
