Give yourself a chance

 I was going to write here more often, but unfortunately I did not do it and in 2024 this is my first entry. 

This has its negative sides. 

Every time I come up with an idea, unfortunately it escapes somewhere into space and it is difficult to grasp the thought. 

But I remember the outlines of my last topic, so let me dwell on that.

Some situations that have led me to think that many people are very critical of themselves.  We have an inner critic in our heads, an eternal dawdler.  The negative side of our being, which in situations when we need support pulls us down.  Unfortunately, our mind, for a unknown reason, directs us to trust this inner critic. 

We keep telling ourselves that nothing will come of it, it will certainly fail.  Why try at all... 

Do you want to start your own business?  Better not There are probably a lot of people doing business in an area where you would like to work.  The tax office will probably throw itself at you like a hungry hyena for its prey.  Probably nothing will come out of it anyway.  Many people have tried.  And you have to invest.  And you have to guard everything.  Why you need it. Are you not better off to work for someone?  You are not worried.  You do not risk much. 

Do you dream of writing a book?  But why? Who will release it?  For what purpose would you write it?  Who do you want to reach?  Where will you find so much time to write it?  You already have little time.  You would have to put too much work into it.  Who is reading books today?  Give yourself a break.  It is better to plan a lazy holiday at the lake. 

Or maybe you have an emotions that are looking to be released and you grab a guitar to tell the world about those emotions.  And suddenly you come up with an idea to release your own record.  But why? So many bands now.  You will not be able to succeed.  There are a million other artists who have already tried and got stuck in the nooks and crannies of their rooms, or maybe play somewhere in the garage and even though their music is great, they will not reach the audience, because nobody promotes interesting bands.  Teams that can immediately bring profits are promoted. 

You feel poetry and want to publish your own volume.  But it costs.  Write for yourself, somewhere in the notebook.  Poetry is not needed today.  Give yourself a break.  Sign up somewhere to the poetry club and fulfill your dreams there.  Do not feed on illusions. 

You are going on a trip abroad and even though you are tired, you need to visit as much as possible.  Who knows when you will go again.  Or at all.  So even though you dream of sitting on the beach and staring at the vastness of the sea, you force yourself to explore more and more new places, where of course you have to snap a million photos, in an attempt to capture the moment.  Somewhere in the back of your head there is a thought that the only thing you dream of is a bonfire on the beach at sunrise, but you do not know if your stupid dream would find acceptance in the eyes of friends with whom you went to the sea.  This trip cost so much... 

Or maybe give yourself a chance... 

You may pay horrendous taxes when you start your own business and there are many other companies in the sector you want to do this.  But you don’t know what it’s like to run your own business.  You are characterised by persistence in pursuit of a goal.  You have never been disappointed, so why would it be different this time?  Give yourself a chance... 

Although the idea of writing a book seems to contradict common sense, you have an idea for this book and have always dreamed of writing it.  You want to create something that is left when you are gone.  You want to catch the thoughts that your mind gives you and enclose them in a hard cover signed with your name.  Give yourself a chance...  

Write a poem and publish it. Maybe it doesn’t pay off, but it’s worth it.  Give yourself a chance... 

Relax on the seafront.  And if you dream of a bonfire on the beach at sunrise, that’s what you should do.  What if the trip cost a lot and you may never come back again?  How much does it cost to give up on dreams?  Give yourself a chance... 

A man I love to listen to but also to read - Jacek Walkiewicz - once quoted professor Bartoszewski, who said: "There are things in life that are worth it and there are things that pay off... and not always what is worth it - it pays, not always what pays - it is worth it".  I never thought about it until I heard those words.  And in this simple statement there is indeed an unprecedented wisdom. 

However, I think that when it comes to fulfilling our dreams, it is worth it and pay off.

World, that transformed into scrolling

 For some time now, a certain thought has been lingering somewhere in my mind—something I couldn't quite put into words, but today I will try to pour it out here on the blog. The world I grew up in has ceased to exist. Sometimes I wonder if putting forward such a thesis is a symptom of a midlife crisis, or if it is perhaps the result of observation and a conclusion drawn from analyzing that observation. Audaci vultu aspice

The end of the year.   Because of this, I decided to write a few words here in my "garden of thoughts" as well. The year 2025 was a year marked by change for me. But not only that. It was an interesting year in terms of reflection. For several years now, I have had plans for each coming year. Sometimes they form a coherent whole; other times, they are a flash of needs which, if not fully realized, can lead to a sense of defeat and failure. And that is exactly why I am writing this post. Yesterday, I heard an interesting phrase: that we set this boundary point from which we begin our transformation (or, more precisely, plan our transformation) because we feel a need to ritualize the moment of transition. "Starting Monday, I will..." "Starting with the new year, I will..." "Starting next month, I will..." I don’t judge whether the ritual of transition is good, bad, necessary, or not. It is likely whatever it needs to be for each of us individually....
